Trap No.1 was published in 1630 (!!) by the famous Italian Gioacchino Greco in his game manual. A manual that, generation after generation, has been studied by all the great chess players (yes, even Paul Morphy knew it and certainly read it).

Puzzle answer: Nxf7 threatening to win a rook
if Kxf7 Bg6+ winning the queen
wherever rook moves Bg6 is still a strong threat of discovered check, while also threatening the queen

I was looking at Ng6 for the same Bf6+ outcome that I think @dariusgomes5944 was with Nxf7.
I chose that line because it prevents Black playing
... Qxf4+ before
Nxh8 if Black doesn't fall for the trap.
Darius's Nxf7 seems better because the N can escape through g6, but Ng6 stops Qxf4..

Nb5 looks tempting because it threatens Nc7+, but
Nb5 Qxf4+
Kb1 Qxe5 will thwart Nc7+
and even if
Nb5 cxb5
Bxb5+ Bd2
Rxd4 Bxb5
it's cost you a knight and a bishop for a pawn and a Queen.

Please feel free to question or criticise these ideas.

What about Nb5, attacking the queen, if cxb5, Bxb5+, Bd7, Bxd7+, Nxd7 and Rxd4, winning the queen? If queen moves instead, Nc7+ would win the rook and gain material. - edit: it doesn't work, because the black queen can return to b6

There is a way to protect the pawn on c4 with the b5 ad then bishop on d7. Anyway the white pawn takes on b5? And if the bishop takes it bring the Knight to a3? It has happened to me.

I think I get it... Ng6 (can not eat because lose the queen) so Rg8, Bb5, Qb4, Nxd5, NxNd5, Bxc6, Bxc6, Qxc6

The puzzle setup is a bit silly since the black Queen is in such a ridiculous position. It can't be readily used for defense. Plus, its position is worthless for an offensive move since the white King is so heavily defended. Plus, it faces a shielded attack from the white rouke one the white bishop is moved.
