💡 About This Video:

If your dog's food has peas or wheat in it, the protein amount on the bag is lying to you. I'm Jaron Lukas, the author of The Canine Cocomega Effect. When dog food is formulated, brands can calculate the percent of protein in that total food and that percent protein can be very misleading. When we feed our dog a high quality source of protein like meat, we get up to 98% digestibility, meaning 98% of that protein that's in the food will absorb into your dog's body. The protein in those vegetables is also counted. However, it only has 40% digestibility, and even worse, a lot of that protein is in the form of anti-nutrients, bad kinds of proteins, such as lectins, which ultimately cause inflammation.

So check the ingredients on your dog's bag if you see peas or wheat, I would definitely recommend trying to find a new dog food. Let me know if you see any plant proteins in your dog's food, and I'll let you know if they're good for them or not. Follow me for more dog nutrition facts.
