Nice. Now visualize this but in 3D: propagation out from a source to all points of a sphere at the same time; then add infinitesimally small wavelengths either side of this one i.e., different 'colors'. And then as your brain starts to melt, just wonder in awe!

That's a great demonstration! But i guess, Just as the other commenter, that they SHOULD be out of phase by 90 degrees. Now I haven't actually studied on WHY, but the explanation we were given is because the electromagnetic waves propogate in helical pattern, which wasn't expanded upon. Still Cool demonstration!
