How to Tarp a Roof Dormer

This is how I covered my roof that's been leaking. This plastic and method lasted 6 months solid and kept us dry until high micro busts winds came (35-40mph) and tore it up, just after that though work began on the the new roof a few days later.
Adjust the Mil thickness for your wind area.

I'm not able to get a new roof until the end of spring or the beginning of summer so this cover I designed should hold the water out until then.

This is a DIY project, if you do not feel safe on a roof please do not try this, there are many contractors who will come out and tarp your roof in an emergency.

I called one when the leak got really bad one night but they were going to charge $400, so I decided to tackled this on my own. I hope this helps you if you're in a similar situation.

This is not the only way or the professional method to cover a leaking roof but it worked for me, when in doubt always seek a professional...if you can afford it.

4 mil black plastic.
(Holds up against 30mph winds, in my experience)
Roofing nails.
Large screws.
2x4's.
All weather roof cement.
Gorilla tape: (This stuff is excellent)

Wear some safety gear or roof harness, especially if steep! I should have got some type of gear, but I did not want to use it for speed sake.
