“I knew right from the start, music can change the way people feel. Like my emotion, my emotional state, the angst, the calmness, the energy when I need to get hyped up, all those things I could associate with music and I knew that music was a powerful tool for that.” In this episode, we speak with Cory Wong about his diverse relationship with music and how he found the voice that shaped his signature style.

The moment Cory goes "du-du-du-du" at 15:10 fits perfectly with the background song.

This was a great interview, didn’t know too much about Cory before but he has a great story, really inspiring.

I'm noticing quite a few Wong notes here.

I’ve heard of this guy for several years but never heard him. Glad I stumbled on this. Definitely a unique strumming technique! No pick ever?

Cory Wong’s right hand technique looks like when you put tape on a cat’s paw.

I'm a 69 yo muso and I was wondering what happened to music, this guy has taken it into a whole new direction, so inspiring?

Why does he look like Simon from Alvin and the Chipmunks?

If I was tripping I’d be zoned out on his strumming hand! Even not tripping I’m seeing tracers! Lol
So floppy looking!

Oh gosh! I can't stand his energy. He's too wild and hyper for me to handle. His guitar playing is cool though.

Proof that you only need one single right hand technique to stand out, then you can do the same thing over and over at every gig. The real talent here is not getting sick of it.

He's no doubt a really great guitarist, but when he starts going quack quack quack quack for two minutes straight, I get reaaally bored and annoyed...it's, like — dude, for the love of god, please change it up..that noise gets really monotonous and tiresome...It's a cool technique when you use it sparingly and appropriately, but just like any other technique — if you just do the same thing over and over and over, it gets old real fast...

What the HELL does this have to do with string theory???? NO interest in this guy's life...I just wanted to hear about strings and the effects you can see the difference in. I'm looking for strings that start with .09 and the G string is wound....anyone got any ideas? I like the playability of 9's but love the sound of a wound G
