Two years ago I had to say goodbye to two birds in my flock, but I only publicly announced one because the pain of two was too much for me to live publicly and to be honest, my processing was not happening on any particular timeline. So I am finally sharing this now.

My heart goes out to you. I had to rehome my two Congo African Grey parrots. I had raised them from day nine.I had their parents, which I also had to rehome. My reason for all this is that I became very sick, &hospitalized for all of 2023. I am also 86 years old.
I fell head over heels in love with parrots in 1991. At that time I came down with pneumonia which left me with CFS(chronic fatigue syndrome) which I still have. My age was not a problem, being sick was the problem .Losing my birds broke my heart & left me with severe depression. Presently I only have one. Cockatiel. My Grey parrots spoke fluent English and were very affectionate. I also had a Sun Conure who is no more.
As I said My heart goes out to you, & understand your pain.
I love your channel & family. My Cockatiel is healthy thanks to you & your feed system.❤😊

Any loss is never easy, and forgiving yourself less so. Grief is such a profound personal process, but thank you for sharing and continuing to educate along your journey.

Hi! It’s frustrating not having all the answers as to what happened to your bird. One thing is certain, you are so loved Jamie! Hang in there.

The biggest hugs, loss is never easy and being transparent can hurt almost as much because sometimes people are just not nice. I am so thankful for you and your family and all you have taught me to be an even better pet parent. You give these birds the best life. More hugs!!

I remembered that you briefly mentioned that she passed but wondered why you didn't go into much detail. I assumed that maybe the pain was too much at that time and it really wasn't our business to pry. I personally don't like talking about my grief openly with friends, so I get it.

Thanks for sharing this with us. It is always hard to lose a pet. I have dogs and birds. It never gets easier. I find that every new death reopens the wound of the previous one. So, it's double the grief.

Thank you for making these grief/loss videos, Jamieleigh. It makes it so clear to the rest of us how delicate and complicated our feathered friend are. Every day with them is a gift. ❤

I'm so sorry, I have followed along on here with you guys for so long and have seen you all grow from the cruise ship shows to the loss of Bandit Boy, Rocco and now your sun conure, grief never gets easier, time just dulls the fresh sharp edges. Remember them all with fondness and smiles.

Thank you for sharing your story. I lost a budgie a few years ago. I completely understand not wanting to talk about it. 🙏🏻💜

Awwww Cressi is so sweet! ❤ I woke up this morning to a dream that turned really scary. I dreamed that my grey choked on water and it seemed like he was gone, but I was able to save him and he held my finger. It was so wonderful to wake up to him saying "are you okay?". ❤. okay as long as he is. Upon waking up more, I was thinking about how I wish there was a bird first aid course I could take. There are so many things that could go wrong that could need an immediate remedy. I know a lot about human health, but I'm afraid that if something went wrong I wouldn't have time to find the answers. I look to you as my most reliable information source, so it seemed very fitting and coincidental to find your care book and this video when I picked up my phone. Thank you for all that you do. ❤ I'm sorry for your double loss. I lost 2 of my grandparents within 4 days in 2007. I know the grief can be extra difficult. I'm glad Deeka's loss was a bit easier for you. I believe that you feel your feelings very deeply like I do. I'm also sorry for your loss of Rocco, I know that was very hard on you. I cry with you, knowing that if I outlive my Coco, that's going to be a terrible awful time for me, but I also don't want him to feel the grief of my death. I hope that we go at the same time. He's my world, and I'm his. ❤

You help so much more than harm this bird community. And I profoundly thank you. I too lost 2 birds for 2 totally different reason in one month. One I had for about 9 years. It’s so heartbreaking. I can understand having to address it when ready.
