In this video, I review the short-lived TV series Free Spirit. The show featured the character Winnie, a witch, who takes a job as a housekeeper for a suburban family. She learns very quickly that not everything can be resolved with a little bit of witchcraft.

I loved free spirit! I was so disappointed when they canceled the show because I loved every episode.

This series has a comparable premise to the TV sitcom *Nanny and the Professor* from the early '70s: single male head of household with children, in need of a nanny who arrives unexpectedly -- with mysterious powers.

One too many mullets for sure 😂 This is the kind of show I would have really enjoyed as a kid. The fact that only the kids knew Winnie’s secret makes it more fun. Winnie & Jessie would have been my favorites, but Gene is so silly. Love the clips showing Winnie’s powers. Also just love whenever Seth Green randomly appears in stuff lol.

I think if it had a home on Friday nights instead of facing "Murder She Wrote" or "The Simpsons" on Sundays it could have a bit of a future, shame on ABC.

Even though it aired years before the term was coined, Winnie has big Manic Pixie Dream Girl energy. Maybe that was the problem, it was too ahead of its time.

Correction on the name pronunciations, Ralph: it's Bohrer (BORE-rer), and Franc's last name rhymes with "does"; it's not "lose". Wikipedia has it wrong, in case you looked there.
