I'd have liked to laze around the beach but today it's too roasting even for it, hence I'm just chilling out on the sofa with air conditioning on. Thanks for the useful video Jo, hoping you're chilling out as well. Cheers!

Thanks for this lesson. Chilling out is the most common, I have heard it many times. Not the same for "laze around", first time I hear it. However, it is easy to associate it with "lazy" (pigro, oziare, in italiano..). But... the most interesting is "kick back". I was very curious and I looked for informations why it is used with this meaning. I learned that the verbal phrase in the sense "make oneself comfortable, prepare to relax" is from 1975 and it should be related to the concept of "getting something back", so the energy in this case...

I've chilled out all afternoon not around a pool though but indoors.... catching up with my reading and potting around. The weather is so unsettled here waiting for it to brighten up!
Thanks...

Oh I didn't know that "chill out" could be used as a synonymus of "to relax". I was using that way just to say "rilassati" in the meaning of "take a breath" o "stai calmo". Thank you 👍

Chilling out lo sapevo già, ma i primi due non li avevo mai sentiti, al più "kick in" ma con un significato del tutto diverso
