Hey there Photo Tribe!

From lens copy to lens copy no two are exactly alike. Thus a bit of lens distortion correction above and beyond the standard profile can help you create the best photos possible.

In this video I answer your question: How to make a custom lens profile from within Corel's Aftershot Pro software. I look at 1st order, 2nd order and 3rd order distortion correction while making the process quick and easy for anyone to do.

This technique can also be used to make amazing artistic lens distortion right from within your RAW photo files.

If you would like to test out the software, on me, here a FREE LICENSED COPY of Corel AferShot, follow this link and grab a copy with no strings attached.

Are you enjoying these videos? Please give me a THUMBS UP and if you have any questions regarding the software or any photographic questions, please leave your questions in the comment area below.

A special thanks to Corel for allowing me to provide this software to my photography tribe completely free charge!

Just found this channel although I've been using Aftershot for nearly 10 years! The custom lens correction sliders always baffled me - it was just "poke and hope" till I found a setting that worked. I shoot a lot with old film lenses on my Sony A7ii so being able to create custom profiles is a huge win for me. Many thanks.

You are a life saver!! I couldn't get my ZV-E10 to work with ASP3 but I hacked the A6600 info.xml file and it now works a treat and installed the camera profile. Even though I it shows the correct lenses and camera when I click on the "Enable Lens correction" it does nothing. If I manually edit the lens and save then it works. It's as though the database has no data?

Thanks for sharing this. It will help greatly with creating profiles for my lenses that don't already have one. Aftershot Pro 3 is my favorite development software. (Although I'm giving on1 PhotoRAW a good effort).

Hello, i tried to do the lens profile thing since the lens profile from the exif file didn't do a thing.
Now do you need to make for every mm in your zoom range (18-105/f4 emount sony lens with ILCE-5000) an appart profile (87profiles)?
Since the profile i made for 105mm only works for 105 shots ... Hopefully i do something wrong.

Can't we just take a photo of the monitor with the grid on full screen rather then printing it?

When I tested the Corel AfterShot Pro3 Trial recently, it did not recognize my Sigma-24-105 mm f/4 Art, 50 mm f/1, 4 Art, Tamron AF SP 70-200/2, 8 Di VC USD or Canon EF 24-70mm f/4 L IS USM lenses. I use those lenses on my Canon 6D and 5Ds very often. That was why I did not buy the software. And Corel does not answer either.
Do you know anything about that issue?

I went in and found the grid and hit "Free" it downloaded it then told me to restart Corel and I did. When I went back to Grid it wouldn't work? Any suggestions?
