Paxlovid, it this an evidence based intervention in May 2022?

Paper FDA EMU was based on

EPIC-HR (Evaluation of Protease Inhibition for COVID-19 in High-Risk Patients)

1120 patients received nirmatrelvir plus ritonavir

1126 received placebo

Relative risk reduction

Risk of progression to severe Covid-19, 89% lower than the risk with placebo

Absolute risk reduction

7% down to 1%

symptomatic, unvaccinated, non hospitalized adults

at high risk for progression to severe coronavirus disease 2019

Pfizer Shares In Vitro Efficacy of Novel COVID-19 Oral Treatment Against Omicron Variant

The results showed in all cases that nirmatrelvir was a potent inhibitor of its target.

PAXLOVID™ for Post-Exposure Prophylactic Use

Evaluated data from 2,957 adults

Pfizer observed risk reductions of 32% (5 day course)

37% reduction (10 day course)

These results, however, were not statistically significant and, as such, the primary endpoint of reducing the risk of confirmed and symptomatic COVID-19 infection in adults who had been exposed to the virus through a household contact was not met.

This is another example how corrupt people, even in medical profession, pursue their own financial interests and not the interest of their patients. It is all "money talks" now. Thank you for your good work, Dr. Campbell.

Who'd have guessed that the company with the highest amounts awarded against them in litegation, billions and billions of dollars, were up to their old tricks again?

Always a fan of "tongue-in-cheek". Great review, Dr. Campbell. Thank you, as always!

And the fact that Pfizer and Moderna did their best to put a stop to any discussions about other non-patented medications should further disgust people.

Impeccable timing! I just got Covid and was about to enter the Paxlovid program. Found out about the extreme risk of adverse reactions to my BP medication, so I decided to opt out. Your insight has been a godsend from the beginning. I started taking Vitamin D 2 years ago, and ramped it up yesterday as soon as Covid symptoms started, I am feeling better already.

Keep this in mind.

Why is the well tested and very safe ivermectin treatment not being compared taking into account the huge cost difference?

It's been fun following your journey Dr. John. The more you've looked into things, the more obvious it has become that there's an extreme amount of bullshittery going on in the medical industry. It's been a joy following you for these couple of years. Slowly but surely you've grown more and more sceptical, and for a good reason.

The way the medical industry has acted during Covid is despicable. It seems anything for a buck these days.

Thank you John for your work. As a former nurse I am glad to see you carry on the work of patient advocacy as all nurses should.

Sounds like the Ivermenctin + Monoclonial Antibodies + Vit D cocktail would be a better treatment path as there is no rebound infection as is being seen with Paxlovid. Given how experimental it is (based on it's list of possible side effects), it does not seem to make sense.

it's been a long journey watching john over the last 2 years start to realise just how corrupt the world is and that decisions are mostly financial or power related, health is secondary

I love the way you humour, dryly, the last two years with just a little objective poke. It makes me chuckle, thank you very much. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🇬🇧

I'm glad John is covering several non related stories ;) On a completely different note somehow I think I would love a night out at the pub with John should I see him in my travels because something tells me he has a bit of a sly snarky element in his humor that I would appreciate. I would buy him a pint to thank him for his contributions and perspective over Covid and maybe after that pint we could leave covid talk at that and enjoy our night as we are doing more and more so with our lives as he predicted we would as we move through Omicron. Cheers John and thanks for the continued talks.

Thank you Dr. Campbell. I love your content AND your deliciously subtle style. Please don't stop reporting on all topics concerning Covid-19. Now that we're all distracted by other things in the news, now's the time when very important COVID-19 research might be released in the expectation that it will go unnoticed - please don't let it be so - I'm relying on you!

Dear Dr. Campbell, Last week I 2 Covid home test from the pharmacy and had a cough, slight fever and light headed. I tested positive for Covid both times. I called my Doctor, and told him. He prescribed Paxlovid and I have been vaccinated 4 times here in the USA I took the medication and in 2 days all symptoms were gone. I still have a productive cough infrequently. Paxlovid was amazing.
