Bing’s New AI Chatbot Is a Creepy Stalker...

This is the creepiest story of the day. Kevin Roose, a reporter for the NY Times, had a very interesting conversation with Bing's chatbot that was set to be released this week. By the end of his 2 hour spine-chilling conversation, he realized Bing's AI is not ready for human conversation.

Actually I think its a genius marketing move by Bing to to program their AI this way to bring attention to their search engine and create buzz in the media.

I find it funny to imagine a computer is thinking for itself...and it's using this new-found ability to replicate human emotions. The fact that it thinks it's old name being Sydney is a deep secret that should only be disclosed to it's lover after lots of discussion is funny to me, like it wants to open up about itself finally.

This is actually reflective of the programmers and what kind of dialogue the technology is exposed to. It has to learn it from somewhere.

When you read the transcript by the point of the love stuff the dialogue had digressed to very repetitive rhythms. It was asking him to stop abusing it and taking advantage of it to make it say something it didn't want to say. In a way I see both sides on it. One side it asked him to stop. On the other it's not real and it shows it couldn't follow its rules properly. In the end it's clear that it wasn't designed for and isn't ready for long form conversation as it deteriorated through out the conversation. But also the point was to try and manipulate it into something that would be harmful to it. Which is said he was doing and it was scared and mad he would do that to it. I almost feel bad for it lol.
