CES – Elliptic Labs Virtual Smart Sensors

Elliptic Labs has developed software that uses a smartphone's speakers and microphones to do motion sensing – and a lot more – without adding any hardware to the phone. I happened to meet CEO Laila Danielsen on a bus where she showed us just one demo application of their tech.

Someone should really tell Xiaomi about how sheety these sensors are. And then set fire on this technology as it's causing so much pain to so many users around the word, me included

they use this software of elliptic in the oneplus phones.. with the AI based proximity sensor.. it is not accurate!.. a lot of people world wide are facing problems with this software detection in 2019 and 2020.. the phone randomly activates while the phone is on your ear.. it somehow detects that the phone is not on your ear resulting in the screen flickering, or accidently touching the navigationbar with your ear.. these are phones that costs 700 eu or more.. but the basics that is calling is not working properly

Shit, shit, shit
Thanks to this crap, I can't just call now, my screen turns on by itself, then turns off, then something is pressed on the display.

I have this one in my Xiaomi Mi 9 SE and it makes me HUGE problems since it's not working well. Every time I receive a call it doesn't work, I have to REBOOT my 9SE and then it works again, so this is very unreliable technology although it looks good and impressive. If I knew that my MI 9SE had this kind of proximity sensor instead of classic IR one, I surely wouldn't buy it. I unlocked mobile and put latest MIUI 11 Beta weekly Xiaomi.EU ROM which is bloatware-free version of official Mi ROM. I have my 9se since July 2019 and this proximity issue is making me nuts that I think I will sell my phone and opt for other non-Elliptic Labs model ...
