Are Aliens watching us silently?

Human efforts to find alien civilizations began recently, but over 1,700 alien civilizations could have been observing us for thousands of years. In the last 5,000 years, 1,700 nearby star systems have had a perfect view of Earth, with more than 1,400 still having a clear view today. These stars are within 300 light-years of Earth, and 75 are less than 100 light-years away. As humans have been transmitting radio signals for about 100 years, those 75 star systems would have already received our signals. Whether these civilizations wish to communicate with us remains unknown.
