If I was on a jury and some "informant" was part of the testimony, I'd automatically disregard what he had to say. It's not out of love or my opinion of the defendant, but just basic human decency. When someone testifies and there something in it for them, it's automatically tainted. In a normal criminal trial (non-mob related), if the defense bribed some witness there would be hell to pay for witness and the attorney. It's essentially witness tampering.

Michael you are 100% correct sir. If good men can bend the law for just reasons; then bad men can bend the law for unjust reasons. Laws are the pillars and foundations of a civilized society. A house will not stand if the foundation is crumbling.

I think when one turns informant for a sweet heart deal it comes down to Self Preservation. Self Preservation usually overcomes all and the true person is exposed.

I love hearing your stories about the mafia, and the misconceptions you clear up. I don't think criminals should get a lighter sentence because they helped bring down a bigger fish. the witness protect program should be used for innocent people who witness crimes.

Very true about the law having to be enforced legally. That’s what I always bring up when police beat suspects and people say “who cares, they’re criminals “ . I always say “due process is guaranteed to everyone. And if it happens to them it can happen someday happen to you”
