I live in a country that criminalizes sleeping outside, yet does not build affordable housing, greed has fogged priorities of society

Corruption around the world is at an all time high. That is the main problem.

Once food, water, housing and basic necessities are produced strictly because they profit someone already wealthy, they become dangerously unachievable for normal humans ✌🏼

As someone living in Sydney. These are the things i realise, house prices and cost of living is insane and salary will never catch up taxation system here are meant to never make you rich. The wage gap in Australia is growing wider and wider, meaning no matter how hard you work a job, it's not enough to keep up even before inflation, more and more people might face a tough time in retirement.

As an Australia, this is true. It's not exaggeration. We are really in a depression.

People are finally noticing that the difference between reality and conspiracy theory is about 6 months.

This is why if my son and daughter need to live at home for the foreseeable future as long as they’re working and doing their best I would not mind.

It's so sad to see this happening across the world. I'm in the UK and I'd love to own a house, not as an investment, but as A PLACE TO LIVE! Renting is costing me a fortune, and I'm not joking when I say that I worry EVERY DAY about the landlord selling up and kicking me out. I was really settled in my previous rental when the landlady decided to sell, and I feel like I'll never be able to settle anywhere again for the rest of my life.

All the Australian MPs talking about the housing crisis as if they don’t own 10 houses thanks to negative gearing. They’re hypocrites.

Canadian here who moved away 8 years ago. Went back to visit in October and I do not recognise my home country anymore. The Canada I grew up in is gone.

Aussie here... this is only a glimpse at the chaos that we have ongoing here.

No research and development, labour shortages, poor productivity and no where to live.

Its easier for a person to buy their 2nd, 3rd or 20th home than for a person to get their first.... its garbage

It's absurd here in Australia. My landlord did an inspection and brought up the mold they found with the landlord. Instead of fixing it they sold the house so we had to move, costing hundreds of dollars, hours and hours of time and a rent increase. I'm too scared to bring up any issues with the property because I can't afford to move again.

Merry Christmas to all of you.
I live in a 20000 people town in Germany, my wife bought our apartment (90 sqm) this year. We paid 550€ monthly rent before we bought, and bought it for 105k€.
It’s not a huge house, but we’re happy.
Seeing what percentage of income some of us have to pay, it’s really an outrage. All the best to all of you

Us Aussies are over taxed, over levied, over dutied, over rated, over fined, and yet we are citizens of one of the most beautiful and tourism rich countries, and one of the most resource rich countries. More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Australians find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire.

Well of course the answer to affordable housing is to import tens of millions more of impoverished people who will need it. What could be more logical?

Doesn't anyone else find it awfully convenient that every nation in the West is going through a cost of living crisis? It is almost like it is organised...

I live in Canada and am fortunate to have a well paying stable job. Bought 2 house (2019, 2020), one being a rental. And I've just sold it.. might be a bad financial decision long term but seeing how everyone is struggling just makes me sick charging for a basic human necessity. And to be clear, I'm not taking advantage or charging ridiculous rent. Clearing 200$ ish a month and give holiday "discounts" on rent to help where I can. Our economy needs a massive overhaul! Starting with not relying on your primary residence as your pension (which is often the case here).

This is all due to rich people, large corporations and runaway capitalism. The rich/poor divide is getting wider and bigger every day.
