Muslims across the world are gearing up for Ramadan, the staple celebration in the Islamic calendar.

This year’s festival will be very different as the coronavirus pandemic continues to sweep the globe.

But the 1.8bn-strong Islamic community is finding new ways to keep up tradition.

Ramadan always lasts a period of 30 days, roughly four weeks.

This year, Ramadan will begin on the evening of Thursday 23 April 2020, and will end on the evening of Saturday 23 May.

The amount of hate in the comments is nasty, it's shameful to think that people are this disgusting online about people living in their own country. We may not all be English but we're all British so stop spreading unneccessary hate and accept other's religions for what they are. If you don't agree then move on because it's not your life, it's theirs and let them live it.

So my grandfather served in ww2 from Pakistan and then immigrated here to england. The Pakistani / Indians did most of the work for us Brits and here you all are saying that your not a Muslim country and this. I understand and agree with you all the UK isn't an Islamic nation and never will be I just think we can be all respectful and considerate. I'm not English but that doesn't make me any less of a brit. 🇬🇧✌🏼

The amount of racism and islamophobia in these comments is embarrassing🤦🏼‍♂️

Why can’t some people just accept that England is an very multicultural place and that different people have different beliefs. It doesn’t mean they don’t work for and love this country just the same as anyone else. The ignorance of some of the people here is actually staggering. Let people celebrate what they want ffs.
