Cho, Liu and Hamelin’s playing all evoke such different feelings to me,
Cho’s playing is round and warm
Liu’s playing is articulated and clear
And Hamelin’s playing is joyful and almost innocent in a way
I can totally see why they were the top 3 in this competition

Stunning. Rich sonority, clarity and voicing in the middle section, seemingly effortless in the gnarly outer cases. And he lets the notes ring and ring at the end. One of the best and most moving studies, musically.

This is a very good performance. Every other performance I’ve seen and heard of this piece is so sped up to me. I feel that yes it’s a fast paced song but they speed through the most beautiful parts. It ruins the piece to me, because the piece is not about the notes or tempo. It’s about the emotion, the passion and I can feel it deeply from his performance
