India Election: Modi wins but BJP shocked by loss of majority

Around a 10th of the world's population - nearly a billion people - were eligible to vote when the polls first opened back in April.
Voting has taken six weeks and as the results finally started to come in today, there was a surprise.

So far, Mr Modi's party the BJP and its allies are not on course for the predicted landslide.

Modi's party still won the election by getting 44% of seats with next biggest party (Congress) winning 18% seats.
Modi with his alliances has 55% control of the Parliament.

On results day when votes were being counted, the Indian stock market fell over 4000 points .
On the day the Final results came out & NDA won, it once again went up.

Lol, the Indian origin interviewer is so biased. BJP can still form the government as the NDA coalition has ~290 seats. BJP got ~240 seats which is more than all of multi-party I.N.D.I alliance of ~230 seats. Sure, BJP is weakened but not thrown out. That would be a real blow to BJP. So, let the opposition celebrate😂. BJP can survive this to come back to fight for even a 4th term after 5 years! 🙂
