MPLS - Basic Configuration on Cisco IOS Routers

MPLS uses labels as its method of directing data between nodes. In this video, I'll show you the basic configuration required in order to get MPLS up and running on a network made up of Cisco devices. We'll also examine how the CE and PE routers are configured to allow the MPLS network to learn about customer networks.

In this video, we'll be configuring a topology with three Autonomous Systems (ASes). BGP will be used as the routing protocol between the PE and CE routers. The MPLS infrastructure will use OSPF as the IGP within its AS, as well as an iBGP peering between the PE routers themselves.

If you need to brush up on your BGP, you can take a look at my BGP playlist of videos that includes all the information you'll need to know. I've also included some specific BGP videos that are relevant to the topology we'll be deploying.

In this video series on MPLS, you’ll learn where MPLS fits within the broader networking landscape, the problems it was designed to solve, and the key benefits it offers, such as improved traffic management, scalability, and support for multiple services.
