You know you live in a bad area when they lock up ice cream instead of drug dealers.

“There is no punishment.” That sums up the whole situation.

I've shopped at this location many times.
They need to stop treating shoplifters like victims, and start enforcing the law. Businesses can't survive under these conditions.

“The problem is, they’re not punished” – 100% correct.

You know it’s a messed up city when the cop even doesn’t want to be on camera

I don’t understand why these businesses are even staying open. I would shut it down and leave!

The store didn't want to press charges, they only wanted their stuff back 🤦🤷

Why are citizens allowing politicians to do whatever they want? It's their fault. This is what tourists see when they visit the U.S.? How

Lawmakers need to be put in prison for 30 years for failing to address this mega problem

Ahhh the utopia. I moved from San Fran last month and have been following this crap. I parked on the street where I lived and had my car broken into twice a week. TWICE A WEEK. When I say broken into at first it was the windows broken into and things taken.

Now it’s changed to street cam seeing someone reach in as I learned to keep nothing in the vehicle and windows down so they don’t bust them weekly.
Guarded parking was around 400 a month.

I learned to leave windows down, nothing in car even baby seat as I’m sure they would pawn that. It worked for a while but got old.

Hated it. I am out. Not fun anymore. Plus, who can raise a family here. We’re in NY now and it’s amazing.

In California, claiming yourself as a criminal will yield lighter punishment than being the hero.

If they're not going to press charges, than you're on your own. Police officers are not there to simply collect the merchandise and bring it back to the store. They're there to take shoplifters to jail.

This isn't just crime.
It's a total breakdown of society.
It's also what happens when you name your kid, London.

The stores need to press charges.. This whole, "we just want our stuff back", isn't helping. Press charges! Put these thieves in the system and make it uncomfortable for them. Letting them go just teaches them not to get caught next time.
And maybe, just maybe, cut off their hands. I'm just saying. It'll also make them easier to spot the next time.

When cops don’t wanna show their face on camera you know it’s bad

So when given the opportunity to have people actually arrested, the store said no. I have no sympathy for you Walgreens. Go ahead, go under.

That’s the problem if nobody stop Them from stealing, they just tell their friends it’s a free-for-all

If you cause a business to close its doors by stealing, that's a crime against your community and it should come with 20 years to life in prison.

RIP Tony Bennet
RIP San Francisco
This is heartbreaking and mortifying.
What the hell happened to this once beautiful thriving city?
Who the heck is voting for the city govt?
