What is an Integer in Math? Learn Negative Numbers - [6-1-1]

In this lesson, you will learn what an integer is, why integers are important, and what we use integers for in Math. An integer is the set of positive and negative whole numbers. Where a positive integer represents how much of something you have, a negative integer represents how much of something you owe someone else. It represents how far below zero you are. Reference point is very important, especially in measurements.
Eg. An ant moves along a number line, starting from the origin it moves by 2 units to the right and then turns back and moves left by 4 units, again it turns right and moves by 1 unit. Determine the location of the ant.
2-4 -(-1)=2-4+1=-2+1=-1. It's 1 unit away from the origin towards left.
