"The Maple Leaf Forever" is a Canadian Patriotic Song written by Alexander Muir in 1867, the year of Canada's Confederation. It was used as Canada's unofficial/de-facto national anthem in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. The Canadian Red Ensign (1921-1957) is flown in this video.

We sang this wonderful Hymn every morning before our school classes started, it made us proud.

I love this distinguished flag and stirring tune HOWEVER I think both are relics of the days when the British Empire was the dominant world and we were ALL considered to be British Subjects and happy to be so. They were happy days for most of us, I suppose, but they are gone and now we have to salute the Liberal Red Maple Leaf flag, sing "Oh, Canada, " and be "Canadians, " whatever that means these days. Even Canadians are not what they used to be. Canada today is not a country to be proud of anymore. Official bilingualism, too much French influence in our country, a "woke" political leader who is more concerned with climate change and immigration than governing us well, have all combined to destroy a formerly great country of optimism and opportunity. I don't know why anyone would even want to come here from any other country, unless they were destitute and looking to be cared for!!!!

In some ways I feel it is a better anthom than the one we have-even if there are no maples beyond ontario
