This question can also be solved by finding angular acceleration at any general theta angle and then using alpha =omega (d omega)/d thetha

it was an simple wpe question
it could have been improved changing the density per unit length or giving it angular acceleration and adding some more small things like putting it on inclined

as the rod falls wouldn't the mg provide torque about the point B...so energy wouldn't be conserved ??
