How Did Snoke Connect Rey and Kylo Ren?

How was Supreme Leader Snoke able to connect Rey with Kylo Ren through the Force when he had no idea where in the galaxy she was?

I absolutely loved this part of this amazing installment into the saga. I don’t know how much responsibility Snoke really had since they still see each other at the end of the film, possibly hours after Snokes Death. I’m a fan of the theory that these two are connected without Snokes influence. It’s possible he helped to boost their connection but I doubt he was as responsible for it as he claimed.

Maybe the connection between them was already there (created during the interrogation as Alex says) and Snoke simply forced them, or somehow manipulated, to have the succesive encounters.

What if snoke just gave them a permanent connection? Even after his death they can still connect.

So much of the Force is about feelings. Snoke just has to use Kylo’s feelings for Rey to form the connection. It probably also helps that Rey didn’t want to be found, so that part of her mind kept the location a secret from Kylo. It was only when she started to become more familiar with him did she let her defenses down a bit.

Agreed... I think the connection was established during the two-way mind probe during THE FORCE AWAKENS... and Snoke boosted the signal, so to speak (through Kylo, since his whereabouts were known to him)... and then it snowballed from there.

I don't feel like this even needs explanation. The Force is capable of many things that are never explained. So to me it just makes sense as a given that Snoke can bridge the minds of Ray and Kylo without actually having to know the location of either.

I thought in the TLJ novelization, Rey thinks that their force bond started when he was interrogating her. I think Snoke was lying about starting it but maybe he just amplified it or lead Ben in the right direction for his plan. I think Snoke definitely knew of the bond and in the TFA novelization, he accuses Ben of having compassion for her. So Snoke probably had the force bond and how they had this special connection, in the back of his mind as a fail safe if they couldn’t stop the resistance and find Luke. Maybe he pissed off Ben even more in the beginning of TLJ to make him feel even more like a failure and even more conflicted, in the hopes that Ben would reach out to Rey in his misery. Snoke did say that he stoked Ben’s conflicted soul so he probably did that by antagonizing him in the beginning. Since Rey represents strong Light, maybe Snoke was hoping that she would show Ben compassion and would come help him, therefore trapping her and forcing her to give up Luke’s location.

My own interpretation (and bare with me I haven’t read the novelization yet) is that Rey and Kylo developed a force bond from the interaction during the interrogation in TFA and then Snoke took that connection and made it next level god tier. I think that if left to their own devices without Snoke, Kylo and Rey would have had a connection but I probably wouldn’t have gotten past the level of the first Force Skype session where they could see each other but not physically interact with each other or see anything but the other person. I think Snoke was the reason they could touch but not why they could see each other. That is why after Snoke died Rey and Kylo could still see each other in their final Force Skype session on Crait.

And from a purely storytelling point of view, I am sure that Ep IX is going to continue to have the Force bond and have it grow stronger between them again. Because the story needs Rey and Kylo to interact.

Reminds me of that one time Darth Sidious used Darth Tyrannus' connection to Yoda to try and break his (Yoda's) conscience through illusions while he was at the Sith Temple on Moraband
