In this video, we will count the months in a range of dates. We will demonstrate two Excel formula examples to achieve this. Pick your favourite.

Let me know what formula you prefer in the comments.

Or do you have a different formula that you would use?

This video uses just Excel formulas. No Power Query! No PivotTables! No Macros!

I could not find the solution in my language(portuguese), so I searched in English and find two solutions for my problem.
Thank you.

Hi Alan.. great challenge. Here's another solution using IF (I used cardinal numbers in D2:D13 and my date data went from A2:A50). In cell E2: ={SUM(IF(MONTH($A$2:$A$50)=D2, 1, 0))} - and copy down to E13. Of course it requires CSE because of IF.. but another way to get the job done. If I have to choose one, I would use SUMPRODUCT with the double unary (--), as you demonstrated. Thanks for the inspiration to create. Thumbs up!

hi alan, i watch with awe, how you make things so easy! as i am really not doing any projects which would need these formulas, i am not really familiar with either of the formulas, although i have at least heard about them... i would be really pleased with myself if i knew how to use them both with any confidence (practice makes perfect, i suppose). after having the watched the video for a second time, the sumproduct example would be my choice. as always, alan, a very big thanks for another great video. regards colin
