To my understanding, aerogel isn't very strong. How would a hollow sphere or tube of aerogel withstand the pressure from outside if you tried to create a vacuum inside it? Surely it would collapse in on itself wouldn't it?
I'm no expert on the subject, so please correct me if I am wrong. I understand the concept on paper, but I would be more interested in whatever material is being used to reinforce the aerogel. It must be incredibly strong and light to be able to both withstand the pressure and be so light that it wouldn't stop the sphere\tube to rise. And that's without talking about any propulsion system on board to enable manoeuvring. That would be some next level sh!t.
This is a fascinating subject.
Cheers ProSi! ✌️

I have a problem with this Prof. Historically UAP “crafts” have been seen for hundreds even thousands of years. The Romans used to call them flying shields and there are other historical texts describing them. Then you have the foo fighters both axis and allied pilots encountered in WW2. There are ATC tapes of pilots seeing football stadium sized crafts (The Japan airlines incident over Alaska for example) which both radar tracks and tapes exist of the frankly ridiculous speeds they would travel at. UAP colloquially known as “UFOs” are ancient and still unknown but intriguing nonetheless.

He basically described how to build a
lighter-than-air balloon using aerogel walls. It won’t be of any use outside of an atmosphere.

Cool but not capable of dropping 80, 000 feet to sea level in less than a second.

I mean this is hardly a new idea is it... The Zeppelin were doing the same thing using different methods more than 120 years ago 😅

If you check the video with the mysterious flying object, you can clearly see the humans there are ducking, means the object is either very loud or it makes a noise like a flying rocket nearby ( see "eid prayer afghanistan under rocket fire ).
