Finally a smart person, sitting back and waiting to see how this will work out. Stop being critical until you know the whole story

Why not have Aluminum companies talk on this instead of the politicians. The steel industry know better

USA's military spending is more than the next 10 nations combined and with 800+ overseas base, controlling every naval trade routine in the world. What sort of national security threat was she talking about ??? This is insane.

A year later and the economy has exploded. Who is the buisness man and who are the politicians.

They talk about steel as though it is a single element. Modern steels are manufactured from iron and a range of rarer earth metals. The US might have the iron ore but doesn't have access to all of the rarer earth metals required to make advanced steel products. Those rare earth metals come from the countries he has has just imposed tariffs against. In so doing, he has actually jeopardised US national security.

I wish that Trump would just stick to his tacky real estate and failing businesses. He is really messing up America!

The U.S. is only the 26th-largest buyer of Chinese steel, importing just 1 per cent of China's exports last year. China is the fourth-largest source of overall U.S. aluminum imports, supplying 9 per cent of the total (Canada is 42 per cent). But China is the top foreign source of aluminum products like sheets and foils into the U.S., and the new tariffs will cause a small "blow, " to Chinese aluminum products producers.

I would prefer an economy funded by tarrifs. Having to deal with the IRS and income tax is a burden.

No defense contractor can use foreign metal in U.S. DOD weapon systems. I know this because we are required by law and we verify our suppliers comply. The problem is suppliers in the U.S are shrinking.

If tariffs damages these evil, EU Nazi's, then any tariffs have got to be worth placing on the EU. The only bad thing is that the tariffs are not high enough, they should be 75%.

The bottom line . aluminium and steel is cheaper to buy from other countrys . to produce aluminum and steel here cost more.
This will only increase the cost of all goods made with this products. And the tariff % will be add to the products we buy if we get it from other countries . I don't see where it's the benefit . The only person is going to be getting a benefit is trump by making his promise a reality but at what cost .

I am a huge Trump supporter. I just bought 1018 carbon and 303 stainless steel. The price has gone up 20 to 30 percent since the Tarrifs were announced. Its gonna be this way fro a while until things get back up and running over here.

We have a trade deficit with Canada, China, Mexico, Japan and Germany. The Tariff would have to be enough to increase manufacturing in the US not just price hikes or its for not. I'll pay a little more to help Americans get back to work. Its better then taxes for welfare. Taxes for welfare: Jobs = 3 civil servants for 1 welfare check.

Chinese steel comprise only 2% of US steel imports. Canada sells 16% of all American steel imports. Is chinese steel really a concern? Is America really dependent on chinese steel? Is it not more sense to say America is dependent on Canadian steel.

Aren't these tariff the result of more gut instinct and less on knowledge.
