CodeRed Windows Worm

The CodeRed worm, discovered in 2001, quickly spread to immense proportions, clogging the Internet with its many requests and bad Engrish.

One thing I didn't mention - the Worm only defaces the website if the language is set to US English, and it reverts the defacement after a week. Also, if the file C:\notworm exists on a PC infected by CodeRed, the worm enters a non-stop period of sleep.

asking how i get windows 95 on a video that demonstrates a worm running on windows 2000 in spite of the fact that I use windows 98 on my virtual machines while neglecting to realize that the choice of virtualization software has absolutely nothing to do with acquiring operating systems.

Honestly this is pretty advanced for the time. The spreading routine being automatic reminds me of a lot of IoT device malware, and they're a C&C server away from having a botnet.. mind you, that would have been much harder in 2001..

Actually, the code red virus was created in 2000 code red II was created in the summer of 2001. Just letting you know, I'm not hating or anything.

Ok so I put that code to get the website overlay in a .txt file. Right aways as I saved it my anti-virus right away called it malware, even though it was just code for a website. And then when I converted it to a .htm it still called it malware so props to the Kaspersky Pure team for over protecting me!
