I'm going to compare Intel 12th gen with AMD's new Ryzen 6000 soon, get subscribed!

Also at 7:20 the graph should read "higher is better", not lower.

My man Jarrod spending hours running 20 Cinebench tests across two laptops to get the Power Scaling slide, then spending about 30 seconds on it in the video before saying "so anyway, we'll stick to results with no power limits". Truly the hardest working man in the field; other youtubers would've put out a 20 minutes filler-infested video just for that slide alone!

This is an insane amount of work. Well done, as always, but I'm just very impressed by the amount of work you did to produce this video.

Dam Jarrod, you really went above and beyond with that power scaling graph!
First, thank you so much for going to that level of detail on your comparisons, that's a stellar effort. And, the only true way to compare generational performance. I hope it gets you the recognition you deserve. Second, more please!

I'd like to see the differences between the Core i9-12900HK and Core i7-12700H. There's quite a few MSI laptops that have either of these two 12th gen CPUs in them, and the differences between the two would be interesting to see. I believe they are both considered to be high-end. I imagine that there wouldn't be too many differences, but the Core i9 does have an extra 300 MHz in Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 Frequency, Performance-core Max Turbo Frequency, and Efficient-core Max Turbo Frequency. It's also unlocked which means you can overclock it to your hearts content.

I did see some benchmark results somewhere that the i9 does have a considerable performance bump increase compared to the i7, I just don't think you'll see the advantage in games. You'll see the performance increase in productivity apps like video editing and photo editing apps, performance benchmark apps, or perhaps when transferring large files to and back from network servers.

@4:32 Power scaling? You mad man. I can't imagine the time spent just for this brief graph. Kudos to you!

Just bought an 11th gen laptop today.
Yes, I know the jump been the two is huge, but the recent price drops on 11th been make it worth it for my needs. There are some real bargains around at the moment if you look in the right place.

I'm personally more excited about the i7 12700h. Dave2d showed some excellent performance and more importantly battery numbers for that chip tested in a 14 inch chassis

Just a suggestion. Since these laptops have different dGPUs, I think using a same eGPU with both the laptops can give comparable results for tests that utilize GPU.

Really looking forward to 12th gen laptops. I'm not a big E-core fan for desktop but laptops, this is such a great innovation.

One of the most hardworking, humble and amazing content creator. His work, presentation and knowledge is unimaginable. I got my ge76 raider i9 model after his video only. And its still blowing up any machine i see till date. Thanks man for keeping everyone updated about shifting technology. Godbless

Nice finding. It looks like 12th gen has better performance efficiency, which is expected. For so long (since 8th gen) the gen-to-gen improvement between 8, 9, 10, 11 are marginal with more and more power hungry (and higher thermal) CPU.

Amazing. So much work has been done to compare these two

The more interesting thing here is that in most test, the 12980HK under 45W TDP performs the same as the 11980HK WITHOUT POWER LIMIT. That is the big leap in terms of both efficiency and performance.

Do more budget content I think most of your viewers would want that

This vid earned my subscribe :) just prior to these stats i was adjusting my TDP limits to tame the beast as i don’t need the stock high power limits and the heat it brings.

i adjusted my 12700h tdp PL1 to 75w and PL2 to 80w to keep my spiked temp spike to 90C compared to 98C when running the stock PL1: 110w and PL2: 135w GE76 setup. I left tau at the stock value of 56s.

Cinebench multiscore with that still hits an amazing ~15, 923. Max power i get 16, 320.

I can only speak for the 12700h GE76 cooling solution. But i noticed i start getting less larger (incremental) improved performance above these TDP values. Starts to flatten a little so what you’re showing here is legit. At full power i was throttling 46% of the time; while at my reduced tdps i was throttling 1% of the time ;)

Probably some of the most remarkable comparisons I've seen in years, if not ever.
Ofcourse, this is a special moment for laptops: we can have battery life improvements, passive cooling, weight cuts, cuts in size and over-all life time improvement of the laptop.
Which combination of these we get will depend on the purpose of the laptop.
For example, the 2-in-1 will benefit in getting a smaller batteries and smaller cooling efforts to make them slimmer and lighter.
Incredibly one-sided results.
