I feel like Courtney Cox talked about this happening to her. Makes total sense, and why people keep over doing it

This happened to me just with makeup. I had a super busy few years where I was always go go going for work and school, wearing makeup from early morning to late night, and I began to hate the way I looked without it. In retrospect, I simply didn't like what had become unfamiliar to me. Fast forward to a few months after this season of life, I wore less makeup more often and fell in love with my natural beauty again. It was so liberating and a profound realization that we can really change our own self perception.

She looks so much better without all the filler, it’s amazing.

This is exactly what I did!! Had about 6ml in my lips (they were massive) and I got it all dissolved. Took some getting used to but never got them re done. I look so much younger!

On the topic of perception drift, I had so much filler- cheek filler, jaw filler, under eye, chin, lips, nose and started at age 20. One day I woke up, looked in the mirror and had a full breakdown crying because I didn’t look like myself at all. That’s when I decided to dissolve it all and I’ve never been more confident. It just took a few years to get there but I’m so glad I realized before I messed myself up permanently.

Dissolved mine after migration. Waited about 4 months to refill and when I did had so many issues. Bumps like crazy! Eventually dissolved again and will NEVER put filler anywhere in my face again. Dissolving was so unbelievably painful and it took 2 total vials over several sessions. The worst!

That’s so interesting. I got ombré done for my eyebrows. I was diagnosed with lupus, an RA, and then I start losing my hair, including my eyebrows. My hair on my head came back, but my eyebrows did not.I did Ombre because I didn’t want bleeding. The lady I went did a pretty good job. It looks really good and natural. but several times she tried to talk me into tattooing /Fellers of my lip, I said no and she did show me a pictures. I really didn’t think there’s anything wrong with my lip just my eyebrows . Not having no hair. I appreciate you when you post stuff like this make me feel good about myself.

This is so so sad that we live in society where no one can just LEARN TO LOVE THEMSELVES THE WAY THAT THEY ARE!! Everyone literally hates themselves and that's what we are being taught to do. Instead of learn to accept ourselves for the way that we are told to run out and change those things immediately. For people who tell you to to that, UNFOLLOW them asap. I'm glad that i got off of social media. It taught me to learn to be more comfortable in my own skin and to not as compare myself(my body) to others as much. You don't need to change yourself. You need to LEARN to love ones self. Don't follow society's trends. That what plastic surgery and fillers are- a person being a follower. Learn self love, self acceptance. It's the path that's less traveled, but instead of larger lips, you will have a larger heart and be rewarded with the knowledge of self love and self compassion.

She needs to do a PA that people need to watch BEFORE ANY Cosmetic Surgery. ❤

wow i am loving her "new" lips. she looks like herself again. i loved her regular lip shape. not every face needs or benefits from lip fillers and she is a great example of that. gives her such a better balance to her face and smile.

Wow!! Perception drift is the word I needed .. I feel everyone who doesn’t do these procedures knew about it but couldn’t name the „desensitisation“ that seems to take place after starting fillers

The same thing happens with hair extensions. People get used to the density with extensions. So when they remove them they think they lost a lot of hair.

Michael Jackson 100% had this issue. He kept tweaking things that didn’t need to be tweaked.

So true. It's the same with tanning. ❤

I recently was in a new smoothie shop in which there were multiple women, independent from each other, with the trendy cosmetic procedures like the plastic-like skin, botox, and a lot of lip fillers. They all looked like the same pouting adult doll. Multiplied it was a bit eerie.

There were only two natural women apart from me. I had had a few days of struggling with my looks before that, but after that I was cured from my struggles. I thought, "The world wants women to objectify themselves via their looks and here they have succeeded😢." They should have given themselves some time as well.

I love great make-up and please do as you please, but if you struggle look at such a group of women with procedures in real life, not on social media. You will likely fall in love with your uniqueness again.

i feel like we’ve all experienced perception drift or know/observed people who have, we just never knew the official term for it! hopefully now there will be more conversations about it 🙂

PD happened to me majorly with eye makeup & overlining my lips. i couldn’t believe that my boyfriend thought i was better naturally until i gradually gave it a few months. it’s been a couple of years & i feel so much better about myself, i’m beyond glad my bf persuaded me to appreciate what i have instead of resorting to fillers like i originally had planned. plus, being so critical and obsessive of your appearance is incredibly taxing…it was impossible to love the real me since i was masking it, now i feel free.

She looks SO much better without the lip filler omg. I’ve been following her for a decade too at least and her natural beauty is what everyone fell in love with. Hope she keeps it that way.

Might just be some of the absolute best advice from a Doctor who makes her living doing what she just said to not do right away or potentially not at all! Bravo Doc for putting patients well being before profits! You’re incredible & inspiring!
