GDPR helps protect people's privacy in the digital age, but has some positive side effects for businesses, as well. Watch to learn more about what GDPR is and how it helps businesses.

Implemented in 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation, or GDPR for short, is legislation that updates privacy laws across the European Union. Under GDPR, companies cannot legally process anyone's personally identifiable information without meeting certain conditions. In the event of a data breach, businesses are also required to notify all affected people within 72 hours.

While increased internet access facilitates communication and allows for the constant sharing of information, this also raises privacy and security risks. Not only does GDPR ensure privacy rights aren't being violated, but it encourages healthy business transparency.
