Airedale vs Welsh vs Lakeland Terrier Difference

Welsh Terrier, Lakeland Terrier, Airedale Terrier. In this video we will talk about difference between these three dog breeds.

SHORT AIREDALE TERRIER DESCRIPTION:
The Airedale Terrier is known as the "king of terriers" partly for his size. They range in height about 23 inches and in weight from 45 pounds for a small female, to 70 pounds for a large male (20 to 32 kilograms).

The Airedale Terrier is a neat, upstanding, long-legged terrier, not exaggerated in any way. This breed has strong round bone and combines strength and agility. The coat is hard, dense, and wiry; it lies straight and close, with some hair crinkling or waving.

SHORT WELSH TERRIER DESCRIPTION:
Weighing in at 20 to 22 pounds, the Welsh is an independent, somewhat stubborn breed. He's extremely cute as a puppy and seems to know just how to work that cuteness to get his own way. But what's adorable in a ball of fur you can hold in your hand turns into tyranny in an adult dog, so be careful not to spoil your little charmer.

The compact Welsh Terrier, who looks like a miniature Airedale, is steadier, more sensible, and less excitable than some terriers, yet still full of energy and drive. The Welsh Terrier does best with active owners who are confident and consistent, for he has a marked independent streak and will take advantage if indulged.

SHORT LAKELAND TERRIER DESCRIPTION:
The Lakeland Terrier is a rather small dog of short-backed, square proportion, with a sturdy, workmanlike build. The Lakeland Terrier’s expression reflects moods ranging from intense to impish. The double coat consists of a soft undercoat and a hard, wiry outer coat.

Like all terrier breeds, the Lakeland is a fearless dog with a heart of gold. They love to run and chase and thrive on outdoor activity, and will play with the zeal of a puppy, even as an adult. Lakelands are good family dogs and enjoy the company of older, well behaved children.

My Welsh Terrier and Airedale were the two smartest dogs I’ve owned. They were both really athletic too. Love both breeds.

Im on to Airedale no3. Just the most beautiful, freindly, manipulative, daft crafty, funny, greedy, sociable dogs Ive ever owned or met. I learnt in time, you dont own an Airedale, he just graces your presence. Theres times I feel like his butler. But what you get back is priceless in uncon ditional loyalty. Im bias but I Iove em. Bawled my eyes out when the last two passed on. Not crowned 'King of the Terriers' for nothing.

I had an Airedale, she was affectionate, funny, obedient, sweet, loyal and loved everyone (except one repairman that came to the house), never had a problem with her. We miss her terribly. I think I would have a hard time changing breeds.

I've always had Airedales. I have M.S., so when I started falling my Airedale would stand by me and I would hold on to her/him and they would pull me up. Now they are more watchful and when I try to get up from a chair they have to be right there to help!

Yes i'm looking at these 3. I've had the airedale terrier and they are wonderful beyond fantastic. Airedale was the most easily going, clowney, funny dog, trusting, can't imagine a better dog than Airedale. Very compatible with Jack Russell Terrier. Yes need bigger yard for Airedale.

What a nice video! We had an Airedale terrier and now we own a Welsh, both similar in appearance and energy level yet so different in their character

I know this is an old video now, but just for future reference, a welsh terrier was mated with an otter hound to produce the airdale terrier, so therefore you could say that the Airdale is a large Welsh terrier. The welsh is a much much older breed than the Airdale. Great video by the way. 👍

Another GREAT AND INFORMATIVE VIDEO!!! You are so knowledgable about the many different breeds of dogs. I like the Airedale Terrier the best because of the larger size.

We have a 12 yr old Airedale and really love her. At our ages, if we ever get another dog, it would be the smaller Welsh Terrier. Thank you.

I have 2 Airedales, male and female. Full of energy, funny, loving, obedient not so much, they are very, very smart and know the things they can get from you. They read you very well. Love to run and play but also like their naps and bedtime routine. I am thinking of changing beds, our queen size bed is not enough for the four of us. 😂
