Argonne interns Gihan De Silva (City College of the City University of New York), Karuska Matos Horta (University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez), and Alexander Azzam (San Diego State University) worked with mentor Margaret MacDonell on individual research projects in the Environmental Science Division.

Argonne aims to develop the next generation of scientists, researchers, and engineers by mentoring over 300 undergraduate and graduate students a year from over 40 STEM majors in over 15 different career development programs. Students come from over 160 colleges and universities in 41 states and 15 countries.

Funding to support student programs come from the Department of Energy Office of Science.
