Basically Pakistan could out-perform was because of aid money. Now that the aid money has stopped now the reality of your economy has come to light.

lets break there 50 year myth
times u were ahead because of external help where as india tighten its belt and worked on its foundation while facing suppression from west.
Nehru socialist policies of promoting PSU' s and licence raj kept india back in initial 3-4 decades but still indians were working on education and other areas, where as pakistan was enjoying best of the world without working for anything to catch india u need atleast 2-3 generations of education reforms

Catch up with India is just not possible ever for Pakistan. This gentleman is out of his mind to claim Pakistan was ahead of India in 1997.India started manufacturing automobiles way back in the early fifties and now Indian automobile companies are manufacturing products at par with International standards. It was a fifty years learning curve, Pakistan has not even started. Parallel to the automotive story all other fields have evolved in 75 years. Pakistan has not even began.
