After 8 months of owning a very clean, 2 owner 1991 Foxbody Mustang GT Convertible, I feel like I have a pretty good understanding of the pros and cons of owning one now. I've taken the car apart, restored most of the common issues the fox body mustangs suffers from, adjusted everything bumper to bumper, and finally put some miles on the car to shake it down. Follow along as I share my opinions and show you the items that I have struggled with so far by owning this 1991 Foxbody convertible GT.

Owning my convertible as a first fox for 5 years now has been quite the experience, super glad to see someone make a video on these models specifically 👍🏼

I bought a new '87 GT convertible with less than 250 miles (dealer demo) back in the day. After about 4 months I was over the wind noise on the highway, you could barely have a conversation with someone in the passenger seat without raising your voice. The only saving grace of the ragtop was being at a stoplight on a nice day or night, then dropping the top to enjoy it.

I've had my 89 GT convertible since it was new. I put the top down in the spring and put it up in the fall for storage. I can barely stand driving it with the top up. Too many noises! Top down, I love it! Good info about the springs and creaks. 👍

I just bought a 93 feature car, vibrant white, and can’t wait to get it on the summer time road.

Video is right on point. The doors and windows on the Convertible fox body needs adjustment every now and then.

I just adjusted my door striker plate this summer. Door was not closing all the way and was rattling badly. Now both doors close properly and do not rattle at least for now. 😆

There’s nothing like a convertible-top down listening to your favorite music with your family beside you.

I’m the proud original owner of a 91 Wild Strawberry GT convertible.
Within a few years of owning it, I installed a Kenny Brown 6 piece matrix bracing that includes subframe connectors and jacking rails. I also installed a strut tower brace and lowering springs.
For many years, I had a supercharger on the car with a built automatic and over 500 hp.
Since I stiffened up the chassis and modified it, it rides like a tank. I know if I ever got serious and put some real sticky tires on it, I won’t do any damage to the car.
BTW… I have a gen one coyote in it now. Long story… I had an engine fire that luckily stayed north of the firewall. And luckily, I had a good insurance policy on it to help pay for the engine and restoration.

Yes sir, these converts take a lot of love and patience. I notice years age riding with my dad windows seals not the best as his 89 hatchback. This is one of the first upgrades along with the shocks. Excellent video.

A guy on YouTube, Ray Urias, has an excellent video on rear window alignment for those who need it.

I ordered parts from LMR and did the installation.

Awesome video as always brother! You hit the nail on the head especially on the 4 window alignments. This is my first foxbody vert and after literally 10+ hours of trying to get these windows aligned perfectly I just gave up. It doesn’t help that my OCD gets in the way either…lol. Coming from a notch fox it is a night and day difference between the two. Definitely enjoying the vert life right now though. Love seeing Sadie (hopefully spelled right) in your video!! Happy New Year to you and your family my friend!

100% right on. I totally restored a 1990 LX vert but it got hit from behind and I had to total it. I bought a 1986 GT vert... All the windows are out of whack, the bushings are bad. I just had the top replaced and the bottom line is this car requires a lot of attention. One day I hope to have all the bugs worked out like the 1990. Always fun to drive. Nice video. Your daughter is absolutely adorable.

Thanks for the tips. I’m debating whether to get one to pair up with my GT and cruise on beautiful days.

Great video! I put a K-member brace on my 92 Summer Edition vert and noticed an immediate difference. Probably not as great as full subframe connectors, but for the money, it was a great improvement in stiffness.

I've had my 84 GT Convertible for over 25 years. It doesn't creak and rattle and yeah it's a little noisy with the top up but I only put the top up to store it in the winter
