i love the acceptance of constructive criticism in the comments, transparency speaks to a good and improving product! i imagine this would be very helpful for those trying to enhance their Japanese speaking skills (and in turn, their ability to be understood by other native Japanese speakers)

A small improvement would be to trim the silent parts in front of and after the recorded sound, so that it lines up better with the native speakers recording

Research shows that visual aids like spectrograms can be highly effective in improving second language pronunciation - so this is exciting to see. The simple interface looks very effective

Luckily I learned Japanese in Southern Kyushu. Rain vs Candy? SAME. Bridge vs Chopsticks? SAME. There's no rising or lowering or any strange intonation. It's flat.
Sadly I learned from elementary school kids I taught. So I sound like a kid from the middle of the country side. Meh.

Something I noticed (and it's a very minor complaint) but when you were doing the "connect the dots for the correct pitch-accent" thing, the "correct" sound comes off as negative instead. I offer the friendly suggestion of literally just flipping it so that it starts with a low beat and ends on a high instead of beginning with a high and ending on a low.
Again, a minor thing but, with how our brains work, I think it would drastically change the overall feel and even the effectiveness of that portion of the app.

i just subscribed for a month to try it out. i am very intrigued by the "mimic" drill section, as it allows me to shadow native speakers and compare my pronunciation in graph format. so far i like it. i needed to do shadowing, but havent gotten around to it.
