POV: the only reason you’re watching this is just to hear Gilbert Gottfried’s real voice

I'm guessing this woefully unfunny skit was posted less for it's quality, and more for the opportunity to hear Gilbert Gottfried's regular voice.

He sounds like the long lost brother of Jerry Seinfeld. Rest in peace, Gilbert. You were one of the most unique talents I’ve ever experienced.

If you were in NY in the early to mid 80's during the comedy boom you would know that Gilbert actually used to do his whole stand up act in his normal voice. In fact, he came up with the loud obnoxious voice as a way to mock Sam Kinison, he used to do sets at Caroline's (comedy club in NYC) where he would do an impression of Kinison & would do the loud over the top screaming voice, one night he did it & killed so hard he just started doing his whole act in the voice & he eventually just stuck with it. But Gilbert used to almost always use his low tone regular voice on stage all the time.

Saw him Carolines about a year after he was fired from SNL. Did his set in the semi-screaming voice everyone knows. After, I saw him at the bar, went up to him to say how awesome his set was, and we chatted a bit. He was very nice, soft-spoken, and spoke in his real voice, just like it is in this clip.

This is Gilbert’s 100% real speaking voice. It’s the exact voice he used on that private message he left baba booey years ago. There might be some MINOR character fluctuations in there…but for all intents and purposes, this is the closest you’re gonna get.

SNL is blowing up Gilbert's spot! He used to use his normal voice a lot before the 90's. i think after he voiced Yago, he never used his normal voice in public again

God this must have been secretly killing Gilbert inside being in a sketch this lame, read a book on snl where Joe Piscopo said Gilbert was hilarious but had gone almost catatonic with Jean Doumanian and some of the other writers, didn't believe it till I saw this

After his bad experience on SNL. Gilbert developed his iconic new comedy character that was brilliant. I had Email communications with both him and his wife in the past. They were wonderful people I like very much. Gilbert was a comedy genius and was my favorite comic. Very funny and a great guy!
