You actually can vanish when taking backshots. The timing window is just small. Also, you can press the up + attack button to counter them again, the window is small for this. You can also use skills like explosive wave, which would be skill 1 or 2.

A really good tip that has helped me in teleporting/high-speed evasion battles, is to tap r1/rb right when you see the vanish effect (when the character turns into the black lines). So as long as you pay attention and react once you see that effect teleporting should become a lot easier.

The back shot will be fixed, no doubt, for the same reason no blocking rush attack with cut scene were removed by Tenkaichi 2 onward. Cause it was killing a perfect formula

If you can master super counter you will be just fine in every scenario, it doesn't even cost any ki unlike vanishing.
