Honda 400ex bad starter?

had a no start no spark, was my ecu. after that runs great

Sounds like the starter isn't engaging itself into the motor all it to turn over try hitting it with a hammer or something soild and try again it should go and if not bad starter and if not starter your rectifier isn't doing what it's supposed to be doin

Same things going on with mine I tried jumping it and it just stopped completely and tried the solanoid and just made that sound. Took the starter clutch off and retentioned the springs and put it back and same thing. Was told coil could be bad but don’t know honestly

Make sure y have the right cold starting amps

This is frustrating, no one understands what’s going on. Yes the starter bearing is bad but it ended up dying on him and he can’t start it off the button. That is what’s going on. I have the same thing going on and I don’t know why my button is not working. I replaced this switch and the starter relay and still nothing.

Starter clutch just change mind the spring and rollers starter run smooth now

Starter is good cause its turning ...its your starter clutch...i have a 400ex and does the same thing....so im replaceing the starter cluch

Does anybody have a solution for this? Mine cranks if I jump the solenoid as well, but nothing from the switch

It’s not a one way bearing your starter isn’t engaging

Starter is fine u need a new stater clutch easy fix

Keep it up and grind the flywheel teeth down yes it was the starter

Your starter clutch is bad it’s a one way bearing and your starter solenoid is bad as well but without actually looking at the bike could be anything
