27th time I've heard a "found Earhart's plane" in my life.

Let's hope this one's real.

How many planes went into the Pacific during WWII?
This being Earhart's plane would be the proverbial needle-in-the-haystack.

Her plane has been found every month since it crashed.

Just an FYI, the longer article covering this story talks about the people who heard her radio transmissions for a week after the plane "landed". Those who received the radio signals say that the last call made said that the aircraft was starting to take on water which would have ruined the radio and the antennas. A bird (aircraft) in the water can't make radio calls because the saltwater shorts out the antenna's ability to transmit any signals. The explorers looking for her remains including the wreckage mention they found human remains on the island next to where the aircraft was found. They currently believe that she landed on land but eventually the water dragged the plane out to sea. An internet search will provide more detailed information on this topic.

OMG! I remember watching this on Unsolved Mysteries when I was a little kid. Good lord Robert Stack's voice and the theme song to Unsolved Mysteries still gives me the creeps to this day. Hopefully they are able to finally give her family and those that have long searched for her some peace and closure now.

This time, let's hope it's finally found this time.🤞

Gosh, I hope it doesn't turn out to be a similar looking Beechcraft Twin 18. Nearly 10 thousand of those planes were built by the Kansas airplane company mostly for the U.S. military.

The Lochheed Electra 10E was so ahead of its time. In a time when aircraft were mostly still featuring fabric covered wings, biplane construction, tensioner cables, multiple heavy wing struts, boxy fuselages, many with open cockpit, the Lockheed Electra 10E must have looked like a sci-fi spaceship. Even today, its looks and construction still have a modern feel after 90 years.

A large number of similar aircraft fought during WW2 in the same area, there are probably dozens of such aircraft within a few hundred miles of the island.

The only mystery there is is how every year or two later they find her remains or her plane parts in different locations.

Can you imagine how many planes are sitting on the bottom of the Pacifac Ocean? Native islanders and a handful of very credible GIs who liberated Saipan swear they saw Earhart and/or her plane on Saipan (the GIs saw the plane - not Earhart and Noonan, to be clear). The GIs swore that they absolutely found her plane, in one piece, on Saipan - bearing the correct tail number. Two of them say they saw the US military destroy the plane. Another GI said that when they liberated Saipan he and some mates blew open a safe in a bombed out building. He grabbed a briefcase hoping it would be full of money, valuables, etc. He swears that it contained all of Earhart's private documents. These GIs are deceased, now, but they remind me of my dad who spent four years in the jungles of the South Pacifac during World War II. They would have absolutely no reason, whatsoever, to invent these stories. The islanders didn't even know the Earhart story but swore that a female, American pilot and her male navigator where held on the island by the Japanese. Many people swore to this and there was no pop culture, no internet, no book deals, etc. - again, the idea that all of those people are lying is preposterous. The Marshall Islands actually issued a postage stamp commerating Earhart's crash landing on the island of Milli because it's such a commonly accepted fact in that part of the world. And every year some yahoo thinks he's found the wreckage or something - it's ridiculous. The testimonies of many of these people are available on YouTube. Sure, they're all lying - good lord, use a little common sense.

This was still very good news to hear. As a child a young man I was always wondering about her when i would watch the ocean and how it moved and looked at old documentaries about her. I always wondered if she made it to a island etc. So i am happy to hear this from this video.

There is a lot of stuff on the ocean floor.I hope that someone does find the aircraft.I doubt that you will find much evidence about the fate of Amelia and Fred. They either made it to a shore and decided to disappear or they were taken by the unforgiving ocean. Rest in Peace.

Before you all start sinking the puns, just know: Earhart jokes never land.

That’s nice. Now let us know when you actually find it.

Would be nice to get closure on this mystery. Definitely worth a more detailed look with the sonar. The strength of her last radio signal picked up by the Coast Guard ship at Howland indicated Earhart was very close.

Yay! One mystery I want to see solved before I’m gone.

If you ever feel like you're being overlooked, remember that Fred Noonan was on the plane with Amelia Earhart. He gets even less attention than Tenzing Norgay.

After scanning for weeks and $11 million, he ends up with this "scribble" on a sonar. He probably had hundreds of "scribbles" that looked like a plane, this was just the best one.

Hopefully they do find the plane and at least give some closure for Amelia, Fred, and any family members still alive.
