Ingredients:
• Baadiyan – 1 piece
• Moong dal – 1 cup (100ml), soaked for 30 minutes
• Country tomato – 1.5 to 2 (as needed)
• Medium onion – 1, chopped
• Hing (asafoetida) – 1 pinch
• Turmeric powder – 1 pinch
• Red chili powder – ½ tsp
• Garam masala – ½ tsp
• Jeera (cumin seeds) – ¼ tsp
• Coriander leaves – for garnish
• Ghee – as needed
• Water – as needed (to adjust consistency)
Method:
1. Heat ghee in a pan and add jeera and hing.
2. Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
3. Add baadiyan and cook for a minute, then add chopped tomatoes.
4. Once the tomatoes soften and turn mushy, add soaked moong dal.
5. Mix in turmeric, chili powder, garam masala, and salt.
6. Add water as needed to adjust the consistency.
7. Cover and cook for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
8. Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with rice or roti.
