#405 COBRA 7 in the Cobra Flex lock

The Cobra Flex lock not only uses this Cobra 7 core but it can be fitted with their Medeco or Abloy cores for even more security. The lock body and shackle are a nice size.
My only question is this, Does their seven sided pole and key really matter ?
It seems to me we could just use the most standard of tubular lock keys as they fit just fine. I like the lock, I just don't understand that part.

The 7 sides may be purely for marketing and patent purposes as it looks to be more of a marketing stunt rather than providing any tangible benefit to the end user.

Great job on making that cobra logo pop! I think the 7 sided key is beneficial for cobra, more so than the customer, as it limits who you can get keys from 🤔 can't imagine that being a huge market for them, but who knows 🤷🏻‍♂️. Great review and demo big Al! Take care buddy 👍 👍

The only advantage I can see is that it eliminates the cut in the center post.
I guess this would stop the use of the traditional tension tools for single pin picking. Take care my friend. Go U.S.

Huh! Great looking lock. The 7 sides is maybe a marketing tactic. I have the same decoder tool. Sad that it opened so quickly, especially for a new tubular lock. 😮

i love the gold it looks great ! i think it would also look great with purple! ya if the other key and the the tool still fit what is the point!???!! it would be different if it had a purpose other then to just look different!

Think the 7 sided core is probably a marketing strategy.
Cool padlock. I have that padlock with a Medeco core. Have you tried to unscrew the core retaining pin on the the side of the lock and the bottom plate to put in a different core?
Looks like you could do that.

I actually have some of those and haven't used them. It was apart of my lock tool buying splurge. About the seven-sided now that one I don't know what to say about.

For a nice lock it's too bad it opens so easy with the picks.
