Is Philosophy Useless?

Is philosophy worth studying? Does it have any practical use in a modern world driven by science? I believe it does.

The emergence of the natural sciences through the age of enlightenment was a significant breakthrough and has revolutionized our world, but the value of science does not negate that of philosophy. In this video, I explain the potential limits of science and the utility of philosophical investigation.

What are thoughts? Let me know in the comments!

To answer the question in the title. Depends on who is asking.
If it's asked as a critiscism of philosophy then philosophy is enormously usefull.
if it's posited in favor of philosophy then it's uselessness makes it deep and profound.

Philosophers are very good at post hock rationalisations.

Great video! I've heard it said before that the utility of philosophy in modern times is to make one question, or to explore ethical concerns; but the way you articulated all that in this video was really well spoken...(P.S., I'll never understand how so many Philosophy Youtube creators can successfully weather, or ignore dumb comments like the one below...I guess y'all are FAR better stoics than myself, LOL! Cheers.)

Philosophy isn’t useless, but a degree in philosophy is

0:30 "A route to personal (philosophical) discovery, and an atempt to answer (philosophical) questions."
Basically the value of philosophy is doing philosophy. Some would call that circular reasoning. If you feel philosophy makes you a more rounded person in general, fair enough, but this deserves a little more explanation not strictly grouned in philosophy. (If philosophy solves problems created by philosophy in the first place this raises some questions.)

For the more concrete part of your example. People haven't figured out murder is destructive before (modern) philosophy? Really? Isn;t it more likelyu philosophy is the post hoc rationalisation for our earlier discovery murder is destructive? Serious question: Why have we as a society decided 'ethics or morals' are the domain of philosophy?

Philosophy has seriously changed my life and has made me a better person. It has also made me fall in love with learning and developing myself intellectually. Pretty useless if you ask me.

Frankly, there is so such thing as not doing philosophy. One either does it well or does it poorly. More often than not, people do so poorly they've forgotten they hold philosophical views at all. ;)

Maybe, but phenomenology and nihilism (as with the other sophistic arts) are definitely useless.

Philosophy is about as useful as Alchemy. It was a good building block to the better fields of study that came after it, namely science and technology.
