How to Build a Shaving Routine That Actually Works

The Henson shaving safety razor is one of my favorite razors, especially if you're new to wet shaving. This razor is so precise that if you don't get the correct angle, this razor will not cut. Having the right razor and blade combination is key to a successful shave. Using a high-quality shaving brush and shaving soap is key and preparing your face to be shaved. Post shave routine is critical for me. I always use a Alun block and Thayers facial toner. To finish everything off, use the aftershave bomb on top of the stairs to create beautiful, healthy, looking skin. Check out all the products below.

Hey David! I just used my Henson for the second time. The first time, I was not impressed. It didn't cut my whiskers well. I was disappointed. I just stored it back in the box and figured it was a loss for me. This was about 8 months ago and I just forgot about it.Just yesterday I was looking for something I hadn't shaved with in a long time. I came across the Henson again. I figured I'd give it a go one more time. This time, I received a great shave! I used a different blade from before. It just goes to show, that different set ups make a difference! What i thought was a poor performing razor, was just the wrong blade combination for me. The Henson is a great razor! I agree with you, a beginning traditional wet shaver should always start with a variety pack of blades! Always try a different combination of razors, soaps, aftershaves, etc. You will always end up finding one that works for you! Thanks for the video! JimG

It’s so funny, I started watching your videos to pick an old school razor for my boyfriend. Your informative nature helped me pick one out that he seems very satisfied with. But now I still watch your videos cos they’re in my feed and pretty good incidental, unintentional ASMR 😂🤣

But I also noticed how remarkably similar your videos are to all of my skincare videos and my own actual skin care routine. Only instead of a razor on my face, I use a chemical exfoliator. But I also use a rose water and witch Hazel toner very similar to your thayer’s and I also use a cleanser on my face but I never see you use moisturiser or sunscreen. Tsk tsk 😂🤣

Anyway, I know I’m probably one of excruciatingly few if any at all female viewers you have but, I’m subbed! Love that young men and ladies buying young men razors have you to teach/influence them!

Congrats on the 13.8K. That Filoso Company does make the biggest bottle of after shave I have seen. I ordered their Dinero after shave and I swear it is like a quart of the stuff. Very barbershop scent and at a price point that couldn't be passed up. Thanks again for a great video and review.

Your videos are awesome. I just had my second shave with the Henson Al13+ and got a near bbs using only Barbasol . I ordered Proraso blue, an alum block, witch hazel, and Nivia aftershave to take it to the next level. Thanks again for the great advice.

Hi, I'd just like to say a huge thank you. I have been using a DE razor for several years with varying success and failures. But watching your videos I have learnt, relearnt and re-evaluate how I should shave. Know i considering to invest in a Rockwell shaver. Again thank you

I love that you experimented with this knot and shared that it will work in that handle I’ve gone one step further and secured a tiny zip tie around the bottom of a knot that had little “backbone” and it was night and day difference, at least I like the thing now 😂 but it made a very soft brush a little more usable for me👍 thanks for the video!!

Iam a beginner of wet shaving and I use the last four months the Helson AL13+. Smooth shave and easy to use it. I have received my new Razorock superslant L2 few days ago. When I will feel more comfortable with my wet shaving I will use that premium slant razor too. Thank you Ohio....Greetings from Greece.

I put a heavier Brs handle on my Henson ++ and it has helped me get better shaves. I also use a sharper blade like the Permasharp.

Quality shave as always my guy. Used a bayonetta myself this morning after seeing your review on it.

I just joined your channel. I appreciate all of the help that you have provided. I have to ask you. Do you know anybody that has saved any money by going to double edged safety razors? It sounds like it turns into an obsession with buying extra stuff. I start with a Henson and I’m already looking at a timeless stainless steel. Lol.

Thanks for the video mate. Glad that people can see that a blade that works for one person in one razor might not work for another person in the same or another razor. Just got a whole heap of Taylors of Old Bond Street creams myself and some Simpsons. Taylor's is an easy one to lather and Simpson's just explodes with a little bit of cream and water. Being in Australia unfortunately postage is a killer so I don't get to try out alot of soaps and creams that aren't from the big brands.

awesome video as always. Finally broke down and got the Henson medium after starting with the mild a few weeks ago. day to day I prefer the mild just for not having to worry about cuts shaving but if it has been 3 days or so my beard is too coarse and thick and have to switch to the medium. each razor came with 100 RK blades free but I don't use them and need to order more personna blades. Persona blades are definitely the best. T3 brush is my favorite.

Nice combo. The bundubeard products are a bit hard to get here (Australia/New Zealand), but are worth the effort.

Enjoyed the vid. Cheers from here

My Fav. Synth in terms of both softness and backbone is the RazoRock BC Silvertip.
