Показать описание
Yarrow—it is absolutely the one herb that you should be growing on your homestead. From the many medicinal uses of yarrow, to how to grow and harvest yarrow—we’re going to talk about it all in this one blog post (including a recipe for yarrow tincture). If you don’t grow any other herb on your homestead, yarrow might be the one you need the most!

Before we get started, please note that we will talk about the medicinal uses for yarrow in this blog post. Please use yarrow on your homestead at your own risk. I am not a medical doctor. I am, however, a family herbalist (and I wrote a book, too!). I feel completely comfortable giving this homestead herb to my family! But you’ll need to choose what you feel most comfortable with for your own family.

Empowerment begins when you learn how to use yarrow. So, let’s begin!

My sister was a botany major in college. She had told me that, technically the definition of a weed is just a plant that's growing where you don't want it to grow. Folks that intentionally grow fields of dandelions need to 'weed' out the plants that aren't dandelions. Technically, a tree can be a weed. This definitely gave me a new perspective!

It seems that I am fortunate that I have wild yarrow growing in large patches all over my one acre lot. I'm also glad that I've been encouraging its growth.

I love Yarrow!! You can’t kill it & it’s the easiest thing to grow, as they seem to make runners. I just saw Yarrow is now being used in hemorrhoid creams. 😅 Thank you! I’ve known some uses for it and appreciate your time telling us all the wonderful properties it has.

I use wild yarrow. Things I've used it for that it did work on....ear ache, toothache, sore throat, cold, flue, even covid, blood poisoning, athletes foot, jock itch, cuts, infections, stopping bleeding, bug bites, high fevers, as a preventative mixed into a cup of tea, a spot on my leg that was questionable, I've came to the conclusion if you can get it to the problem, chances are it'll fix it.

Great info. Parker's Yarrow is topical use only, It has yellow flowers. Common Yarrow white flowers both internal and eternal!

Glad to know about all the colors having the same effect. I've wondered about that.
That Moonshine is a cultivar as are the other colors - with the parent plant being the white one. I've rarely found the yellow to reproduce by seed but the white one is prolific re-seeder!
Also, it is very effective on the spot fresh picked from the garden to stop bleeding.

Nice video! I do have to say though, as far as using Yarrow, one should stick to using the natural white flowered plant to receive the best medicinal qualities. They do not all do the same.

That is good to know that it doesn't matter what color the flower is it doesn't change the medicinal herbal properties.

Thank you Amy for posting this that all colors are medicinal. I have yellow and others I see are White. I was unsure of using the yellow. Thank you so much! 🙂

Thanks for sharing your knowledge! Funny to see the yellow variety of yarrow, as here in Central Europe we only have the one with the white/purpley flowers.
