An Arianespace Vega launch vehicle (Flight VV12) launched the Aeolus satellite from the Vega Launch Complex (SLV) in Kourou, French Guiana, on 22 August 2018, at 21:20 UTC (18:20 local time). European Space Agency’s Atmospheric Dynamics Mission Aeolus is the first space mission to acquire profiles of the wind on a global scale. The observations will improve the accuracy of numerical weather and climate prediction and advance our understanding of tropical dynamics and processes relevant to climate variability.

Amazing acceleration. This is going to be a fantastic instrument to have in orbit.

Solid rocket booster. Cheap, simple and fast as hell. But, no way toggle up or down. Runs full until burn out.

I love the name "Vega"
I'll try to rebuild that in KSP!

Just so amazing to see.

This liftoff is so fast for a 30 meter rocket!! Even the smaller rocket lab electron rocket takes off slower... 💪

Holy shit, is that some kick ass thrust to weight ratio or what !

I wonder how much G force it makes when it launches

Holy shit that's fast acceleration at the beginning.

It would be nice to see a solid booster landing. Excellent 0-60 for a lightweight.

FYI guy jumped out of a plane without a para-shoot from 25000. Landed in a net. I saw it on RT.

All very interesting except one question:
how come the moment when the vehicle moves far away, to avoid any reasonable doubt, with all the technology available in the field of objectives capable of framing details of the moon (nikon D90 at the amateur level without mentioning telescopes, etc.) is not followed until detachment of the satellite instead of watching the usual and tested simulation ??

Can someone explain why this engine has smoke trails whereas the SpaceX Falcon 9 doesn't?

This lady needs to learn to count.I mean, when counting t-8 for example, you count the second at 8.00 s not at 8.999 s

If SpaceX can show actual burns, separations etc...why is everyone else still using cartoons???? Anyway this will be a boon to the weather folks for sure.
