Tough Container Plants - Southern Living Plant Collection - I shot this video in Loxley, AL. These are the plants in the Southern Living Plant Collection that I think make great container plants. I also included a few Encore Azaleas.

Using these Amazon Links to purchase the tools that I use in the videos is a great way to support the channel. Thanks for watching.

Superb presentation tempo, and superb Southern Living plants! It never occurred to me to use containers in a too-wet area I have, where I want some greenery that doesn't die from root rot. You give us so many ideas. Thanks!

I really love your videos...you've introduced me to plants I didnt know exist for Zone 8a. We do have lots of plants to choose from in North Central Texas but I dont want what everybody else has in their yard. I stear clear of linear designs, prefering curvy, loose un tamed cottage style landscapes with manners, if that makes sense! I've saved all your videos and appreciate each one. Thank you

I have recently order by mail from this nursery a compact bottlebrush. It was very packed and is of high quality. I am very pleased. They are now on my top of the list for SE plants. Thanks for your excellent channel.

I've been drooling over those pancake arbs all year! I think we are going to transplant our fire power nandinas and putting these in next year! 😍😍

LOVE LOVE LOVE this video, Jim. Putting shrubs in containers is one of my 'go-to' solutions. Great coverage of SL plant options.

Beautiful plants. I will get serious about my new bed and add a few shrubs next spring. These are really good choices for my area. Tfs. 👏🏻💕👏🏻

I needed this video! Thank you! I just always get red ants crawling inside my container. I don’t know why and because they’re in my patio, they’ve become a nuisance

Great video! Very helpful. I appreciate the hardiness zone information for planting in pots and knowing what will do well yr round in my area. I also appreciate the suggestions on what to plant in pots for year round interest. 😀

Decent video. That said, it’s really a regional general nursery supply description.

I have a large container that I want to put in the corner of my fence. I can’t plant because of the maple tree roots on the other side of it are on surface. What can tolerate mostly shade but still give me a bit of height? It will need to stay put during the winter in 7b because of the size.

Love the video. Do you have a list of these plants somewhere? I didn’t see it in the description below the video.

Jim, my orange rocket barberry is mostly green. Planted about a month ago. Does that mean it's not getting enough sun? Or like Japanese maples, they green out in the heat of the summer?

I grew up with a couple of yucca plants in the backyard and they were great. They've naturalized now and need to be thinned out, but it would be like trying to prune a hedge of barbed wire. The are lethal. Any tips for working on them?

Love the plants. Were they all perennials? Don't think we get Southern Living plants in the Pacific Northwest.

I have 3 azaleas in a container and they are not doing well. The leaves all turned brown and crispy and and struggling to survive. The branches are dark brown. What happened?
