Complex job for Ban Ki Moon. A lot has happened over the last decade like the spread of globalisation bringing easier access to trade, movement by peoples around the world (in terms of traveling for holiday), the power of the internet and technological advantage, betterment of water security around the world, enshrining LGBT rights etc...

Nevertheless, a rise in income inequality around the world, the spread of a small part of the radicalists acclaiming to be of Islam spreading terror around part of the world, a rise in global obesity, xenophobia with certain nations on refugees, quicker global warming and climate change, etc...

As time changes, we humans evolve as well with and certain things stop or change and new global issues and global affairs take place.

With regards to Ban Ki Moon I believe he could have done a bit more on Syria, the refugees, etcc... but he is simply the face of the UN and leverages of the work and dedication of those around him to accomplish the UN goals.

Lets see how Antonio Guterres does!!

People go on about climate change, particularly CNN, but talk very little about other threats like overpopulation and depletion of resources and the presence of nuclear weapons, of which there are still so many. It is no good just focusing on the climate while not trying to deal with these other problems as well. On population, for instance, it took thousands of years for the population to reach 1 billion, in 1800. It only took a little more than 200 years to reach 7 billion and is now approaching 8 billion.
