I keep getting the vibe that her caretaker Embraced her simply because the caretaker couldn't bear to watch the old woman die when she had an opportunity to do something about it.

It only makes what happened after even more tragic.

Shows us D at least has some compassion for the vampire and Kevin wasn’t just an exception.

The way big D just stares at the mess and how he slams his arm down to stop music speaks volumes of his true self. The eyes show that he can be quiet and he has the innate ability to review a crime scene without judgement. The music on the other hand shows off his compassion and respect for the dead. He shut off a happy tune as to say “this not the time or place for such music to play”. And how his hand slowly slides off gives a feeling of sadness and remorse. Almost in a somber feeling of what once was cannot be now.

Damn I'm starting to think big D's extravagant personality and outlandish way he goes about things are used as a coping mechanism for all the Horrror and trauma has witnessed over the years as a hunter

Sometimes I wonder if Big D isn't just faking the empathy to manipulate Kevin but then stuff like this happens and I see he really does feel for those forced into that position. He is a great character. Also these aren't tears my eyes are just sweaty.

Holy shit this short really showcases the tragic horror of vampires and their victims. I really like how despite the main series' more comedic tone we still get these sincere and beautiful moments. You guys have outdone yourselves with this one. Shine on.

This honestly might be my favourite thing to come out of Hunter the Parenting yet. Simple, but powerful.

One of the biggest rules of comedy, and a rule I often have to remind myself of, is that even the best jokes can't always be funny. There needs to be moments where other emotions shine through, so that the funny *means* something. You can't have the good without the bad or the dawn without a night. And when done right, you get moments like this one. Like Door doing his best with Boy. Like Marcus admitting his feelings of doubt and dislike of his father. Like Kitten recounting his first interaction with a vampire. Well done to all involved. Can't wait for the next one.

The old vampire describing how she never once got to take a day for herself cuts *deep* for me, cuz I’m in a very similar situation to hers; pressed into a life I never asked for and forced to serve due to nothing more than cruel circumstance.

God this series is fantastic

An incredible and dreadfully sombre tale. It is strange, yet soothing to see Big D in such a serious state of mind; he almost evokes the image of a Reaper, coming to comfort the woman in what she deems her final moments and aiding her in reaching it as though he was a better carer than she had previously.
I wonder if there will be more from H:tP with this more serious tone. It would make a fine relief amongst the chaos and shenanigans, comparable to a high-stakes anime's slice-of-life filler episode.

This is just amazing. The stern features on big d, the patience, the deafening quiet on a normally loud man, you can even tell his words at the end were carefully chosen, as if in an attempt to give her peace.
