I do think that one thing that Democrats completely fail to understand is that, in America, it’s only and always about marketing. It’s never about truth. We have had decades and decades and decades of messaging telling us that things are what they aren’t and aren’t what they are, and we have learned to pay no attention and simply accept it. The one skill that Trump possesses turns out to be the only skill he needs, and that is the art of bullshit. It is all marketing, no substance, but that’s what Americans have come to expect, and that is all they are capable of thinking about. If the message says it’s X then it’s X, no questions.
